The Grade 2 classes at Eskasoni Elementary have had an exciting hands-on science experience over the past couple of weeks! 🐛

Grade 2 teacher Heather Patterson brought tiny baby Painted Lady caterpillars into the classrooms, where students watched them grow each day until they formed their chrysalis’. The Painted Lady butterflies started emerging and students helped care for the butterflies by feeding them sugar water before their release.
They learned so much along the way. ✨ Did You Know?
🦋 Butterflies taste with their feet
🦋Caterpillars form a chrysalis, not a cocoon. Cocoons are made by moths!

From caterpillar to butterfly, the entire process takes about 10–14 days, making this such a fascinating learning experience for the Grade 2 classes. 💙🦋

Erin McPhee’s Grade 1 class was so EGGcited to welcome some fluffy little chicks into their classroom! 🐣💛

After patiently watching and learning about the incubation process, students got to experience the amazing moment of seeing the chicken eggs hatch. This hands-on learning experience helped students explore life cycles, responsibility, and caring for living things in the most memorable and cutest way! 🥚✨

Tennis was introduced to our middle school students this week thanks to a visit from Tennis Nova Scotia!

Students had a great time learning new skills, staying active, and getting a chance to try the sport! This initiative was a great way to get the “ball rolling” toward adding tennis into the Grade 5–8 Phys. Ed. program.

Wela’lioq to gym teacher, Janet Phiefer and everyone involved in bringing this opportunity to our students! 🎾💚🎾💚🎾
